God's Anointed Dancers

The ministry of dance is a ministry of creativity, and what is creativity? Creativity is when the Divine and humanity' meet. As dancers for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we must create- Create is to behold, waken and awaken. In order to create we must give birth.  "When we give birth the Holy Spirit works through us to resurrect and awaken everything that is".  "This is indeed the spirit's work-to awaken all things". This is indeed the dancers work also to resurrect and awaken all things. First you must wake up yourself to what is, then you can awaken others. "The dancer teaches others to behold-to hold being, to hold being in respect, even in reverence, to hold being as something sacred, as something alive and imbued with Spirit's intentions and love. To hold being up-all of it, the joy and the sorrow, the beauty and the ugly-so that others might behold it first. And act next These actions might take expression of praise when we behold the wonder and glory of being, or of interfering when we behold the destruction of being or of healing when we behold the victims of the struggles that being is heir to."

In summation you the dancer, you the artist are to create. When you create you tap into the creative spirit. Creativity is connected to joy. The joy that is found in Christ Jesus. John 15:16;16:22 "I commission you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last.—I shall see you again and your hearts will be full of joy, and that joy no one shall take from you. "

You have been charged Go Forth in ministry, Go Forth and Dance, dance, Dance your dance is a spiritual weapon that sets the captives free.

Leslie Duroseau Director

History of the Liturgical Dance Ministry

The Liturgical Dance Ministry was inspired by one our saints, Ms. Wilson. God opened the door for Ms. Wilson to start the Ministry in the mid-90s. She was ordered by the Holy Spirit to begin with four young saints of our church.. She states, "It was a blessing to watch these four young ladies develop a stronger ,and more personal relationship with God through dance." The ministry was inspired by the Holy Spirit to minister their first dance to the song "Nothing but the Blood". It was ministered with the spirit of joy and a heart filled with love. The Lord .was praised and gloried through dance. In 1998, the Lord led Leslie Duroseau to become Ms. Wilson's assistant. In the year 1999, Ms Wilson was led by the. Spirit to resign as the Coordinator and it was then that Mrs. Duroseau became the coordinator and the Liturgical Dancers were officially recognized as a ministry in the church. With encouragement from the Lord to share this gift with others, a teen component was added to the ministry with the assistance of Selena Stone and Simone Carnegie. In the fall of 1999, the Lord led another saint to help in the coordination of the ministry, Ms. Lisa Perez who was the Assistant Coordinator of the Ministry. With all this support and God's blessing the adult component of the ministry started in October 1999. Currently, Mrs. Wilkins Lovett is the Assistant Director and has been since 2002.

The Liturgical Dance Ministry now consists of 30 members and continues to grow through the Grace of God. Jesus is the reason for each step, each uplifted hand, each turn, and each teardrop. He is the stronghold of the ministry. He created a light filled with love and through Him we share that love with others.

The Liturgical Dance Ministry thanks God for allowing us to praise Him with the gift of dance He has blessed us with.

All glory to the Father.
