Our
“Purpose”
“The organized unit of United Methodist Women
shall be a community
of women whose “Purpose” is to know God and to experience
freedom
as whole persons
through Jesus Christ; to develop a
creative, supportive fellowship,
and to expand
concepts of mission through participation in the
global ministries of the church.”
This is the reason United Methodist Women exist. We are women
dedicated to the work of mission, primarily with (but not limited to) women, children and youth.
We are comprised of women of various races, nationalities, religions,
ages and physical abilities, and we welcome all women who would like to make a difference in the lives of others, across the
street, the nation and the world.
Oddly enough, United Methodist Women
are not all United Methodist by denomination and every woman in the United Methodist Church does not belong to this group.
Only those who pledge to uphold the ‘Purpose’ as stated above can be a part.
We also have a teen component for young women ages 12-17 who are
interested in training in local, national and world mission.
Our local unit currently meets every 2nd Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Clarence Tilghman Hall and
all are welcome. ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.’ (Matthew
9:37)
