The
Springfield Gardens United Methodist Church, it’s Development Corporation and Trustees combined with the ELIM Board,
by unanimous sanction and approval; do hereby dedicate this space of our campus as the Whitten Hall, in loving appreciation
to our Sister Mary Whitten, for her incomparable years of service to God, this church, and the Springfield Gardens Community.
Her resilience, tenacity, vision, and spirit
have been emblazoned on the lives of hundreds of students and their families; her labors will live on. Her role was not just
as an educator, but a protector and defender of these children and their families, who on many days were able to find refuge
and safety, “After School.”
